Survey proposes degrees may be equal among universities

Surprised to Survey proposes degrees may be equal among universities in the CMU's newspaper the other week. I think that CMU students learn much and their degrees are know to be of great value . . . they're willing to pay a lot for them. Hope to see some op-ed pieces addressing these areas in the coming week.

Even if you learn the same things, a more expensive education may pay off in terms of job opportunities due to the economic signal it sends. That is, if you are willing to invest a lot in your education, a potential employer may infer that you will also invest a lot in your job. That is, the sort of people who go to Carnegie Mellon (for example) make good employees, rather than the other way around (i.e. going to CMU transforming one into a good employee). All that from an economists point of view.
That said, I believe education should be so much more than a step to getting a job... but that's another topic.
