Packing . . . moving
Posted by tom | Jul 18, 2006We're in the packing . . . moving frenzy. Special thanks to Heather, Kristen, Melissa, Serina for helping w/the girls. Way to pack boxes (Amy, Amy, Jean, Maggie, and Nicole)! Loved the meal Lydia. Rob and Josh -- way to dismantle the boxspring and carry it out the front door. So much easier than when a few good men bent it up the stairwell :-) Alan, we very much appreciated your walk-thru packing assessment.
Can't wait to see more of all of you on the packing (thank-you Jeanne and Kristen for all the boxes) and unpacking ends. Forgive me if I've missed you (more posts coming shortly, stay in touch), it truly has been a disassembling of the barn experience and a walk through memory lane as we go through kids crafts, leftover cabinet supplies, old IVCF-CMU undergrad and grad posters (Being Human Series, Bruce Kuhn, Jesus Week, Jim Sire, Veritas Forum), Star Wars toys. So many of the people God has placed us in the midst of have been involved. And we can't forget our neighbors, particularly Max for teaching our girls about growing corn and lettuce; Jean, Joe and Karen for all their time with the girls including 4th of July fireworks, ice-cream runs, etc.
Can't wait for the barn-raising experience of pulling together the details, living w/our parents for several months (thank-you for the hospitality), painting the house when its completed, taking everything out of storage, finishing the basement, and assembling the library :-) Thank-you to all our family who have given us much advise, input, and opportunity to develop/take this next step forward. We've applied for the mortgage. Hope to break ground by mid-August, the house is under production. Just sent in the paperwork for the girls to enroll in Donegal School District in the fall.
We receive and rely upon God's grace alone for this transition of family, life, and ministry . . . so good to believe, know, and have seen that He showers His grace upon us through His instruments of the Word, the Spirit, the People of God, and His Providence. Can't wait to see the next chapter of our lives back home yet with our eyes set on Home.

So happy to help with the girls. Wish I could've done more. Hope you're doing well--we miss you already, mostly because we've been gone so much this summer that we didn't get the chance to hang out! I hope your transitional time is happy and reflective, and not stressful.
