Randy Pausch's final lecture

Posted by tom | Sep 21, 2007

Yesterday, a friend from InterVarsity emailed me to see if I know Randy Pausch, a professor of Computer Science and Human-Computer Interaction Institute guru. His final lecture (with video) has received coverage in a number of places, including:

Wall Street Journal
Chronicle of Higher Education

If one's been connected w/CMU it's hard not to have come across Randy. And being back in 'da Burgh for a visit I'm reminded of him walking his dogs, playing basketball w/him a number of other members of the Robotics Institute, and his announcement across Newell Simon atrium of a plane hitting the world trade tower (which led to a rush by myself and the members the Graduate Christian Fellowship leadership team to the TV in the Robotics Institute basement lounge). I enjoy his good natured humor and determination and pray for strength for the coming months for him and his whole family. For a journal of the past year go to here.

Update:  Randy's appearing on Oprah on Monday, October 22.  For those in 'da Burgh, the show airs at 4pm on the ABC affiliate WTAE-TV.
