Teased by Caspian
Posted by tom | Sep 29, 2007Time to start taking the Narnia Chronicles off the shelves in order to prepare your family and friends for the wider conversations regarding Aslan, Christ, Christmas, Lewis, etc. You still have time with Christmas still about 3 months way, Prince Caspian seeking safety in late spring (May 16, 2008), and with the Dawn Treader, in consideration of the challenging schedules for our young actors, remaining in the dock until May 2010.
My response to a brief scan of comments on Narnia Web: let's be mature and not get all bent out of shape regarding the delay of the Dawn Treader. Our world is directed by and in Christ, not by the movie industry, not by Lewis. How easily one can be distracted by the evil one regarding such little things in life. Rejoice with me in the Father coming through Jesus by the power of the Spirit in the act of incarnation, revelation, healing, and atonement. The cosmic battle centers on the life of Jesus. We are not lost because Jesus, the Lord of the cosmos, became human, defeated the powers of darkness, calls us to Himself through His Word, and as we by the Spirit receive/follow Him we ascend with Him to relationship with the Father to Life in the heavenly city. Praise be to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Amen.
What a joy to read the Narnia Chronicles as they are informed by Reality. But let us worship the One whom Lewis points to and not the messenger and/or the various spinoffs. Let us enjoy and critique them for what they are, mere glimpses, reflections of the greater Truth/Reality.
Regarding the poster, Caspian looks too serious for one so filled with fear during his maturation. Yes, he'll receive strength and direction from Aslan, but even that is not the Terminator look.
