11/26 Pregnancy Update

Thought it was time I [Theresa] said a few words about how this pregnancy is progressing. Things are going well and Baby is growing and developing well, as far as we are able to discern. Desperate to know how many babies were in there I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks--there's only one :)  It's always reassuring to see that little heart beating, especially early on when you can't feel any baby movements yet.  And because of my somewhat atypical pregnancy history my OB sent me for a consultation with a maternal and fetal medicine specialist.  I went there today and had another ultrasound (surprise!  I wasn't expecting that one).  Everything looks great for 12 weeks and Baby was quite active.  It's strange to be looking at your child and yet not even know its gender.  Too early to tell.  But I could easily imagine myself kissing that cute little nose, girl or boy.  I get another ultrasound in 6 weeks to check the growth of Baby and hopefully find out gender.

I've been feeling much better, relatively.  The earliest weeks are so bad that any improvement seems vast.  "Tolerable" is how I would describe my status.  I'm still hoping for further improvement in a few weeks, but at least I am a functioning member of my family again.  Thomas, however, is the glue holding these Groshes together these days.  It is only because of his efforts that the girls make it out the door with breakfast in bellies and lunches in backpacks and we have clean dishes to eat off of.  For those of you intimately familar with our house, you will understand when I say that any amount of money we paid for this house is worth it for my bathtub.  Each day ends with a long hot soak in my oversized tub, a place I imagine I will start to call home by the third trimester.

Periodic updates will follow, I'm sure, but hopefully this will satiate the women for a little longer :)

Glad things are looking a little better. I know you must be exhausted, but hey, "tolerable" it better than "miserable!" Hope you're able to eat okay. Seems like I ate nothing but cereal and dark chocolate my first trimester this time around...

And, for the record, I think your master bathroom tub would make a fantastic place for a homebirth. I'm still hoping for a labor long enough and in the right place for a water birth!
