Praise God for His work at Penn on Friday night!
Posted by tom | Sep 27, 2008Your prayers and the prayers of many others were heard Friday night as God spoke through me as a little Christ in one of the most humbling experiences of my life. In some ways I still don't have the words to describe The Last Lecture taken a step further except to say that the Spirit opened some powerful reflections as 30 or so students from around the world wanted more discussion and more time to explore the meaning of life and death.
The intense interest/curiosity exhibited by the international students in the presentation, discussion, and then 1-1 afterward (including pictures of my girls), impressed upon me how much I miss international ministry with grad students. I had met a number of them at the various area winter retreats I've planned and I return even more motivated to improve our teaching and fellowship at our upcoming winter retreat (place the Feb 13-15 retreat with the theme Hospitality on your prayer calendar) ... maybe I'll not be able to resist the call to board the train to Penn to serve God in a similar manner sometime in the coming months.
Note: Here's The Last Lecture discussion handout in PDF ... material from the presentation will be posted early next week.
